FINALLY, Breaking Clays staffers were able to partake in Cosmic Clay shooting, hosted by the Roscoe Sportsmen’s Association! With each round of Cosmic Trap costing just $10.00 and two trap fields going strong, we barely had a moment to catch our breath before diving into the thrilling action! The fun was cranked up even more with a 50/50 drawing and awesome prizes for those who hit special targets. It was a very cool experience, and we're already counting down the days to the next event on Saturday, November 8th at Roscoe, which is a very nice club! If you’re looking for something new and unique, I urge you to check out Cosmic Clays!
Cosmic Trap Shooting is growing in popularity
As the days get shorter, local clubs will be starting their winter trap leagues, and Ellsworth Sportsmen’s Club recently announced their 2025-’26 League, which kicks off December 14th. Check out the flyer below for more info. And just a reminder, the club is now open Wednesday → Sunday, with trap shooting on Fridays and Sundays.
Finally, if you’re interested in participating in a shooting event at Nemacolin, you have the opportunity to do so while contributing to a worthy cause—The Noah Angelici Hope Foundation. This event is scheduled for Monday, November 3rd, with a registration deadline of October 28th. What is trapshooting?
Trapshooting is a game of movement, action and timing. It requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4-1/4 inch clay target which are launched through the air from a single machine simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter.

What is sporting clays?
Sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Targets may be thrown from literally any angle or distance to simulate wingshooting, and six different sizes of clay targets are used to further give the shooter the experience of actual hunting conditions.
