Coal Ridge Sporting Clays (Weirton, WV) is always cooking up something fresh and they just announced their inaugural “Bunny Blast” on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Check-in starts at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. Lunch, prizes, and awards will be at the conclusion of the 100-target event. The course will be set to feature a larger percentage of Rabbit and Rabbue targets. Pre-registration and pre-payment are mandatory. Please call 304-670-8919 or see the flyer below for more details.
Promise Land Hunting Preserve (Freeport, PA) is having their opening day this Saturday, March 20th.
Sporting clays will be open as follows:
Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
*Good Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
They will also be open Thursdays and Fridays the following week after Good Friday. Remember, they’re also a Keystone Ramblers affiliated club.

What is trapshooting?
Trapshooting is a game of movement, action and timing. It requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4-1/4 inch clay target which are launched through the air from a single machine simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter.

What is sporting clays?
Sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Targets may be thrown from literally any angle or distance to simulate wingshooting, and six different sizes of clay targets are used to further give the shooter the experience of actual hunting conditions.
