Eager to elevate your trap shooting game while exploring six of the finest ranges in Southwest Pennsylvania? Look no further than the West Penn Trap League, a storied tradition that will celebrate its 81st year in 2026. To join the ranks of these sharpshooters, you'll need an ATA card, but fear not if you're not yet a member—you can easily sign up at the event. For a seamless experience, I recommend visiting the ATA website and registering in advance. So grab your smartphone and punch in the following dates on your calendar!

-Target pricing is $35 per event.
-Discounts include $30 for Juniors (unless they choose to play Lewis, in which they forgo the $5 and pay full price.)
-Qualification Requirements: A shooter must compete in 4 of the 6 shoots to qualify for postseason purses.

What is trapshooting?
Trapshooting is a game of movement, action and timing. It requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4-1/4 inch clay target which are launched through the air from a single machine simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter.

What is sporting clays?
Sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Targets may be thrown from literally any angle or distance to simulate wingshooting, and six different sizes of clay targets are used to further give the shooter the experience of actual hunting conditions.
