Have you heard about “Cosmic Clays” yet? I’ve read about this intriguing activity, but I have yet to participate in what is referred to as “a unique and innovative variation of traditional clay pigeon shooting.” This modern twist on the classic sport involves shooting clay targets that are illuminated under special UV black lights.
Locally, I’ve heard you can shoot Cosmic Clays at the Fayette Gun Club, Roscoe Sportsmen’s Association and the Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club. If anyone has additional info on Cosmic Clays, please contact us.

What is trapshooting?
Trapshooting is a game of movement, action and timing. It requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4-1/4 inch clay target which are launched through the air from a single machine simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter.

What is sporting clays?
Sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Targets may be thrown from literally any angle or distance to simulate wingshooting, and six different sizes of clay targets are used to further give the shooter the experience of actual hunting conditions.
