Fun fact: The fastest time to shoot 25 clays is an incredible 24.25 seconds (roughly one clay every 0.97 seconds), set by U.S. shooter Tyler Leinbach in 2015.
There are some great benefit shoots quickly approaching with the annual Washington Greene Health Foundation shoot kicking off on Friday, August 7 at Hunting Hills. Held on the first Friday of August since 2005, all funds raised through the Sporting Clay Shoot support essential programs and services that benefit patients and families throughout our community—your neighbors, friends, and loved ones.

Most of us grew up as Boy Scouts (or secretly wished we had). Either way, Scouting builds character and creates future leaders — and now you can help the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association do even more. Join them for a great day of shooting on Saturday, August 8th at Coal Ridge Sporting Clays. This special event is limited to just 136 shooters, so spots will fill fast.

Looking ahead to October, registration is open for the Tom Teagarden Annual Clay Shoot taking place on Saturday, October 10, at California Hill Gun Club. A team of four is $400 and this event is capped at 136 shooters. Check the flyer below for more info on how to register!

What is trapshooting?
Trapshooting is a game of movement, action and timing. It requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4-1/4 inch clay target which are launched through the air from a single machine simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter.

What is sporting clays?
Sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Targets may be thrown from literally any angle or distance to simulate wingshooting, and six different sizes of clay targets are used to further give the shooter the experience of actual hunting conditions.
