Where to Shoot Clays This Week

Hunting Hills has a full slate of shoots this coming weekend. On Saturday (April 25th) the Warrior Trail Gobblers Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is hosting their annual Jakes event from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Come out for an afternoon of shooting clays, archery, turkey calling, prizes and more.
On Sunday, April 26th, the Log Cabin Cares Sporting Clay Benefit, organized by the philanthropic division of the Log Cabin Fence Company, will take place. This event seeks to unite individuals and businesses from the region for a day dedicated to clay shooting, camaraderie, and charitable activities.
This popular event has become a cherished tradition, raising critical funds for local nonprofits while strengthening the bonds within our community. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. with shooting at 10:00 a.m.
Proceeds from this 2026 event will support the Mrs. Claus Club of Bentleyville. But hurry, registration ends today. Click here to register.
Beyond that, there's always a wide variety of trap and skeet shooting events happening every night within a short drive, including shooting under the lights Friday night at Ellsworth Sportsmen’s Club. Grab your gear and join in the action!

What is trapshooting?
Trapshooting is a game of movement, action and timing. It requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4-1/4 inch clay target which are launched through the air from a single machine simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter.

What is sporting clays?
Sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Targets may be thrown from literally any angle or distance to simulate wingshooting, and six different sizes of clay targets are used to further give the shooter the experience of actual hunting conditions.
