Where to Shoot Clays This Week
Spring is here, and we're ready!

The Spring Trap League at the Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen's Club in Eighty Four, PA, is set to kick-off tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. This league was the foundation and inspiration to create this newsletter, and it’s open to the public and is characterized by a welcoming and relaxed environment. Individuals looking to practice or compete against experienced participants are encouraged to attend every Tuesday.
If you’re looking to get out and blast some clays on Good Friday and hang out with the Breaking Clays staff, Hunting Hills (Dilliner, PA) will host its annual Fish Fry Sporting Clays Shoot, beginning at 9:00 a.m., with fresh fish served from noon until 2:00 p.m. The event fee is $85, which includes 100 targets, a cart, and lunch. In order for them to get an accurate count on fresh fish, please pre-register here. More info below:
The California Hill Gun Club is a hidden gem here in Washington County with several stands overlooking the scenic Monongahela River. They’re conducting a Good Friday “registered” Sporting Clays shoot starting at 9:00 a.m. The cost is $50 for 100 targets, and the event is open to the public. Registration is available through Score Chaser or at the club, and a Lenten menu will be offered.
Lastly, the Library Sportsman's Association will hold a Good Friday Ham Shoot from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

What is trapshooting?
Trapshooting is a game of movement, action and timing. It requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4-1/4 inch clay target which are launched through the air from a single machine simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter.

What is sporting clays?
Sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Targets may be thrown from literally any angle or distance to simulate wingshooting, and six different sizes of clay targets are used to further give the shooter the experience of actual hunting conditions.
