The West Penn Trap League kicks off their 81st season this Sunday at Victory Hill Gun Club in Monongahela, PA. If you’d like to get some practice rounds in prior to league play, Victory Hill is also open to the public every Tuesday starting at 6:00 p.m. To learn more about the league and upcoming dates, click here.
The Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club (Bulger, PA) is hosting their Friday Night Lights shoot this Friday from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. These events are open to the public and will run the second and fourth Friday of every month throughout the summer, so visit www.shootgpgc.com or check out the flyer below for more info.
Established in 1967, Hunting Hills Shooting Preserve has 34 shooting stations and offers activities like 5-Stand, wobble trap, American trap, and skeet. They also have a challenging Make-A-Break stand, providing clay target shooters with a wide variety of options and beautiful vistas of Southwestern Pennsylvania. What’s more, they just announced a new “Legacy Sporting Clays Membership,” which offers the following benefits:
$10 off 100 target sporting clays
$5 off 25 target 5-stand, Make-A-Break, trap and skeet
$10 off HH Legacy-sponsored events (Wednesday steak shoot, Fish Fry, etc.)
Discounted cart rental
Access to specials and discounts at HH Armory and Outfitters
Priority access to calendar for event scheduling
Members can bring one guest per day at member pricing
Fees are as follows: Individual: $125; Group (5-10 members): $115; Corporate (11-20 members): $100
Beyond that, Hunting Hills is offering additional shooting hours. During the sporting clay season (April 1st – October 31st), they are open Wednesday to Sunday from 9 AM to 1 PM. (Reservations are needed from Wednesday to Saturday, but not on Sundays.) Some dates may be unavailable. During hunting season (November 1st – March 31st), please call to check availability and make reservations. Sundays are open to everyone without reservations.

Coal Ridge is hosting a new 100-target event this Saturday (April 11th), dubbed the “Bunny Blast,” which will feature extra rabbit and rabbue presentations. Check out the flyer below for more info.

What is trapshooting?
Trapshooting is a game of movement, action and timing. It requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4-1/4 inch clay target which are launched through the air from a single machine simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter.

What is sporting clays?
Sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Targets may be thrown from literally any angle or distance to simulate wingshooting, and six different sizes of clay targets are used to further give the shooter the experience of actual hunting conditions.
